Nostalgia was a pretty boring game for me... Like suggested, play the Dragon Quest games, they're awesome. I'm addicted to DQV right now.

basically we got a skill that got automatically stronger everytime you level up and get new piece of equipment, and can even get stronger afterwards by raising the skill level

have anyone find a use for Pad?, he looks useless in my party
Slowing down enemies is quite useful. ;|
does it stack?, i haven't got that one

This.

I agree with this statement as there are MUCH better RPG's out there... Nostalgia IS bland, theres... nothing NEW? The whole point of a RPG is to add there own little thing to the gaming industry, and i dont think they have done this, its a GOOD game, not OUTSTANDING though... and it was a rather disappoint. Its a standard traditional rpg, maybe recommended for someone TRYING to get into RPG's, Otherwise stick to something like DQV or Final Fantasy etc

...Isn't Nostalgia's battle system almost identical to that of early Final Fantasy games, yet you're using Final Fantasy as an example for a non-bland RPG? And DQ and FF are hardly innovative any more. They were innovative back in their early days, yes, but nowadays they're just a recycle of their previous game with a new story, unless they have a major leap (like FF3 compared to FF4).

Nostalgia isn't innovative at all (the airship battles are new, but even then aren't a huge leap). However, a game doesn't have to be innovative to be good. If it can pull off the concepts well, even if they are older and commonly used ones, it can be good. I like it, at least.

thirteen hours in & i must say this game is quite entertaining when one is on lifted lane

will play ff 4 once i beat nostalgia, then i can get a good comparison

I played it for a few hours today and after reading a couple of different reviews, I think I'm going to stop. It's not that I listen to reviews or anything... it's just that 2 hours in the dialog is stale and I wanted to know if it got any better. It, apparently, does not.

At this point in my life, I've played enough generic JRPG's to last me.

The story seems a bit shallow, like "Hey I need to find my father, I need to become an adventurer". The skill system is good, at least you get to "get" the skills that are only useful to you. Hope there were more characters, the adventurer quest thing needs a lot of backtracking.

i like it , the missions in the adv guide and the world map make it cool
only problem is you cant walk on the world map only fly but its pretty cool

The airship battle system is neat, the characters are okay, but overall it's super generic, basically uninteresting, fairly pretty and ultimately just like most other low-impact JRPG's - spam attack through most random encounters, and if you collect everything in a dungeon before fighting the boss, you'll rape him.

Not amazing, but far from horrible.

I'm only up to the mines (third dungeon) right now, but I think the game is pretty neat so far. The only complaint I have is the high encounter rate, but it isn't too bad. *ahem* SMT: Lucifer's Call (or Nocturne, depending on where you live.)

I'm very ambivalent as to whether I'd reccomend it to anyone. One one hand it's it sucked me in, and I've put in 20 hours so far, and I'm nearing the end of the storyline. What can I say about this game? The gamplay is old, but if you like that kind of thing, it's fun. It's on the easy side, except for one or two unexpected sudden bumps in difficulty, especially related to airship fights. On the other hand, the story is so ridiculously bad, I have no words. Not only is it a cliché, but it's a series of really bad clichés. It's completly uninvolved, and you will not care for any characters whatsoever. It seems to me every event was written from the motto "what is the stupidest thing that could possibly happen here?". I'm not kidding, I found myself praying there would be no more story after only a few hours, and I maintain my view that the game would be better with blank dialogue boxes, so the player could insert their own story, then at least, I could put in something funny, or pretend something interesting was going on. I really cannot stress how bad, uninvolved and unmotivated the storyline is. Seriously, not one single character has more than a single speck of motivation for doing anything, and almost every scenario boils down to, "will you do this for us?" "okay, I guess I'll do it". There's no point to anything, and while true that storylines in RPGs have never been anything special, this one is just atrociously bad.

That said, the gameplay is competent, although on the easy side. The encounter rate is pretty high, as would be expected from something trying to emulate an older school of RPG game. I'd say maybe give it a go if you can live with a storyline that will make not know whether to laugh or cry over the fact that anyone could write something this bad. No, seriously, I actually laughed out loud at some of the horrible, horrible lines in this game. And I very seldomly laugh out loud. It's that bad.

**********TOKYO SPOILER*********

Damn, I have lost a room in Mt.Fuji before the explosion.
Seems like a treasure was in.
Someone know if there is a cheat code limited to that map for 100% completion?
is really bugging me.

I don't understand how people can complain that this game is generic, look at the differences.

I see no other RPG game on the DS with airship battles, the setting isn't the same, it got a nice skill tree that alot of Rpg's don't have.

Most RPG's works the same though.

Turnbased, level up, random encounters, skills, spells, equipment, bosses, cities.

I find this to be one of the more fun RPG's on the DS for the moment, along with the DBZ game.

I'm quite enjoying Nostalgia, its no Gradia 2 but its no Megaman (The games where Megaman is a tamagotchi) or Digimon, those games have the worst storys and dialog I've ever seen in a game. After playing that DBZ RPG game I found having to tell each character what to do and then waiting for them to do it before being able to tell the next character what to do a bit annoying, but thats a minor thing.
