Looking for the pinout for the DS itself if possible, or rather the cable coming out of it where it goes into the connector within the Nitro Capture.

I'd like to modify it to alternately use a SNES controller for input. That way I can set it at my entertainment center and play DS games from the couch! It's a project well within my ability, I'm just hoping someone else has already figured out the pinouts and maybe it can save me a step or two.

For others just clicking on the thread and wondering what it is about then

https://cooltrainer.org/nitro-capture/

Anyway I would be surprised if people here have the info. For the most part if it is not in http://problemkaputt.de/gbatek.htm#pinoutsvarious (and it does not appear to be) then it is probably not in the collective knowledge here. Even without that most would probably opt for the https://learn.adafruit.com/usb-snes-gamepad/disassemble-the-snes-controller but into the dummy DS instead approach.

Please do share the end results though.

Going into the dummy DS would be a mess of a project honestly. There's far more room on the other end of the cable, inside the box. All the wires are neatly placed in a big snap in connector and easy to access.

I'd recently seen the SNES controller on a DS through the GBA slot mod, which obviously isn't an option here, but it did make me realize it's not any harder than any other controlled mod, and having all the wiring so easily available inside the Nitro housing makes it even easier than using an actual DS.

I'm not sure why people would be opting for a knock off controller with an accelerometer? Maybe I'm missing something..

Original SNES controllers are plentiful and cheap, and work for this right out of the box so to speak.

I was thinking more the tap directly into controller button debug points, traces and such approach that adafruit link had as opposed to pinning out the cable. Might have been a sub par choice of link there.

Oh, got it!

I intend to put a SNES controller port in the Nitro casing, and run wires from that to the already existing wires on that connector. Should be able to leave the DS fully functional that way.

Either way it's a fun experiment!

looking forward to it, please keep us updated with your results. (albeit if I were to have one of those I wouldn't even try)
