A couple of months ago it used to run fine but now the video output is completely messed up. Unfortunately, I don't have a spare cable to test. Other consoles work fine. And when opening apps it gets stuck at a black screen.

I don't know if it might be related to this problem where it's just a bad capacitor in your Wii:

But... do you have another display/monitor/TV to check if this problem is still present?
If no, then it's your TV.

I tried it on another CRT and it worked fine... although some homebrew went missing I'll check and how to fix it later (it's already 3 AM I need sleep ) but that's odd because my PS2 works fine on the CRT so why would the Wii not? And it used to work fine before

Your Wii works fine in a different CRT? But PS2 works fine in "problematic" CRT?
Can you confirm this?

Yep the ps2 works fine on the “problematic” CRT

Unless it's an unknown Video issue for me, then I'd guess it's your RCA cable (Yellow/White/Red) but I still don't know why your apps would load to a black screen since a bad cable shouldn't affect that.

There's also the possibility that you've set your apps to display in Progressive mode (which most CRT's are not compatible with) which would explain why it loads to black screen.

If you can get another cable, by all means do it. If you're still having the issue with other cables, them I'd say it's a hardware failure on your Wii's side. But that is beyond my knowledge other than the bad capacitors thing.

The apps issue might be a corrupt SD card or the Wii somehow corrupted the files. I have reinstalled some of them and it started to work. But I still don't know why it produces visual artifacts on the "problematic" CRT but the other one does not. I still need to find a cable though, found some of them on Amazon for ~20$ (Shipping cost is fun). Maybe after my next salary

Try on another screen (TV, or ... ?).
I doubt it's the screen, but .... Hey !, anything's possible.
A simple vid setting on whatever launcher you're using (?).

Wii2hdmi is a cheap option (ebay-amazon). A cheap alternative ;)

Your Fat32 may have become corrupt due to deleting & adding other games.
Reformat & start again (a more permanent games list).
Deleting & adding games can cause issues with the FAT :(

Yeah, I'll nuke it and reinstall it. I guess next time I'll start using the eject function when I want to remove the SD card :D
