So I have this old crappy laptop, got it in 2001, and it's taken it's toll of abuse. So when I used it recently it would BSOD and then restart. After that happening the 2nd time, whenever I turn it on it says to press F1 to restart due to disk read error. Good thing I bought a new computer. XD

So, is it dead or does it just need a bit of fixing?

Sounds like a HDD error, get a livedisk (BartPE, MiniPE, some linux live disk) and attempt to repair the errors or isolate broken sectors
