I had to sell my iPod, so I'm out of portable media players... I bought an 8Gb MicroSD so I can use my DS as a PMP, but I'm just wondering if Moonshell is the best thing to use. The only other media player I know of is lmp, but I think Moonshell is preferred over lmp for some reason.

MoonShell is more preferred over LMP for me since it is nicer IMO. I actually think that the old MoonShell is better than Beta 2.0 since it is easier to choose options for. Like if you want to shuffle your music, go in order etc. I haven't found out how for MoonShell Beta 2.0, but with my L Button broken, if it requires it, I doubt I can do it though.

moonshell is great if you wanna listen to music and watch videos and view pictures all in one program. Now if you are just going to listen to music then its up to you. theres somethin to be said for having an ipod on your ds.

I don't care about music or video, I just want to be able to listen to my mp3s on the go. I remember using lmp about a year ago but the sound was extremely low unless I went over 100% (which I heard was dangerous since it can ruin your speakers)

Yeah Moonshell works fine with MP3s.
Don't expect the sound to be as good as the iPod though.

Hm... I don't really like Moonshell 2.0
I downloaded the English version but it's still in Japanese... Also, the Moonshell link in the Cyclo site is apparently broken :|

When you download Moonshell Beta 2.0, there should be some language selector thingy... .

That moonshell download says english is the default skin/gui. I will edit this post to see if I can find that program that switches the languages.

EDIT: There is a file in the folder. It is called LanguageSelect.

Even if that were true, why would you go out in public listening to music through the speakers?

If you don't care about the visuals and simply want the fastest most functional MP3 player, than it's gotta be the original MoonShell. It's very quick in loading anything or going to other tracks, and has many useful playback options. If you want to sacrifice some speed for visuals, album art & playlist, then go for MoonShell 2.00.

I think Moonshell 1 drains less battery than Moonshell 2. If you want quality then use Moonshell 2 since that has a significantly better video player and, like mentioned, better mp3 decoding and of course a much nicer interface. If you don't really care about those then you might as well just use Moonshell 1.
