Hacking Is latest system update safe with CF?

Sorry if this info is available somewhere, i don't know where.

How can i check if it's safe to install the newest system update? and how can i check my CF version? i'm not even sure of what i have installed, it said luma somewhere but i just followed a tutorial so i'm pretty clueless right now.

(by new system update i mean the one that was released a couple days ago (5 november 2019 or so) and keeps popping up on my 3DS's main screen)

Download the latest Luma3DS and replace your old boot.firm with the latest version

From there you are safe to update to the latest OFW. I am not sure if the update does anything to older builds, but it’s always recommended to be on the latest build regardless.
