A friend of mine is going to sell his PSP, so I decided to take a look at it.
It still looks quite good, he hasn't played it that much.
But it seems that the PSP couldn't connect to the Internet.

As I'm planning to use it for CFW to play games and stuff, is the WiFi connection very important?
Or can I manually update the FW?

Before we talk about the Wifi, how much is he asking for the PSP?

If you don't really care about playing online or downloading stuff off PSN (meaning you'll pirate everything), if the price is good then go for it.

He'll tell me the price later. Just wanted to know if it's complicated without WiFi.

But thanks Raika. ;D

You'll be fine without wireless (if you really want to play with other people you can use Xlink Kai)

ALSO HI MEGAN!

So updating CFW's and stuff like that can be done with USB cables right?

Yes, you don't need to connect to the internet from your PSP to update CFW. All you need is a computer that can connect to the internet, a USB cable, a PSP and a brain and you're all set.

everything can be done through the usb cable and it's faster than doing it with the wifi with exception of online play, internet radio, rss feed and internet browsing.
psn can be accessed through MediaGo.
The internet browser is weak by today standard and a lot of site don't render properly.
the official updates can be done through wifi, but it's much faster to download it on your computer and send it to your psp trough the usb, and cfw install and updates are mostly done through the usb.

to sum it up, it works wonders without the wifi if you're not into online gaming.

Generally, the PSP Wifi only sparkles on its Internet browser.
It is quite rare that there is a game with nice online multiplayer.

wait. When he says wi-fi isn't working. Does he mean wifi or both wifi and ad-hoc?

Surely only WiFi. I think I won't need the ad-hoc, too, as no one of my other friends has a PSP.

a way to play many psp games online without wifi or psn

adhoc allows you to connect psp to psp pretty much. I know the wifi switch enables both wifi and ad-hoc, and i was just curious if it was just the wifi or both were broken.

It is something curious. Is the WLAN switch even switched on? That's used for both Wi-Fi and ad-hoc, so it would only make sense that if one was broken, that most likely the switch was broken, implying that ad-hoc wouldn't be functional either. My WLAN switch is just always on, and I use my PSP to check online stuff kind of often. Needless to say, at least my PSP's wi-fi gets a fair bit of use.
