Hacking Is it safe to update the console

I softmodded my wii with the homebrew channel and usb loader. I have a physical copy of wii sports resort I'd like to play since the one on usb loader isn't running (i just get a black screen) but it's asking me to update my console first. Would that ruin anything involving the soft mods?

Depending on what version your wii is currently, and titles installed, you normally should have been updated already.

What is your Wii version? And what was installed exactly? A syscheck log would be very useful to help you easily.
