Hi

Yes, i've alredy read the compatibilty list, and i have saw Maxtor Basics 500GB, but i want to know if there are differences of compatibility between various model of this HDD
For exemple in this list
http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_w_h_?u...amp;x=0&y=0
i see two model, one by MAxtor and one by Seagate...
byMaxtor is out of stock, can i buy the by Seagate version without problem to using it with my wii ??

Sorry for my english, i'm italian

I tried 3 HD's (WD, Hitachi, Seagate) on a external enclosure and none worked. It turned out to be a problem with the external casing rather than the drives. I switched to a acomdata enclosure and put the WD and Hitachi drive in and both worked. I think it's more of a external enclosure problem rather than a HD problem. My enclosure is this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817729006. I've been running backups hours at a time for several weeks now with no problems. So if you have a drive laying around, this enclosure works fine.

something that has always confused me is why does the enclosure of the HDD matter at all?

surely it's just a case to protect the drive from dust/ damage? you could just slap an airtight plastic bag over it and you'd be sorted for an enclosure lol
