Apple ipod touch warranty

my ipod touch isn't workin right and is in warranty so im bringin it to apple store. so my question is if i bring it to apple will they just fix the ipod or replace it all together?

Usually Apple just replaces the whole unit. Don't know if they make a backup before though.
