You know, except for the giant batteries to power the large display.

Yeah, I would guess it would be a combo of the batteries and screen. The screen is bigger, so more surface heat.

This makes iPad's kinda dangerous.. Think that you are holding one in your hand and it you dont realize it's (until now) burning up and it explodes!

I wonder how many people out here in Arizona have an iPad. Summer's high is gonna start soon and that is when the temps start hitting 110+. Especially some of the people at the college I went to... man, that would suck

The iPad's circuit board is near identical to the iPod touch's.
There's nothing bigger about the processor. Probably heats up more easily from being clocked higher than an iPod.

Hearing this has made me even more sure to not buy an iPad.
I'm gonna wait for a tablet that has an affordable price and has the e-Ink technology, which will make it possible to read books outside ( I think )

Really, I never understand why people like the iPad. If you want something that can do email's and web browsing well, get a Android phone and if you want something that can play a few games and has a big screen then get a netbook.

I'll give Apple credit when they actually release a device that doesn't sacrifice functionality for the sake of aesthetics, or overly crippled hardware that only ends up being more successful than more-capable competing products because Apple is so good at marketing to shallow, image-conscious consumers. I prefer things that actually work, as opposed to it onl being an advertising slogan.

Yes, my family recently bought another laptop. This time a notebook. I am very glad we did not go with the Ipad as it would not be good for my schoolwork in the fall.

I'll agree with you. The iPad lacks flash and USB ports, but suggesting that the Mac is underpowered is stupid. I have a desktop PC which is abouyt double the power of my Macbook Pro (processors, GFX, RAM, HDD etc.) and my Macbook runs faster. Sorry, but you are wrong.

I'd like to know where I used the word underpowered anywhere in the post you quoted. Functionality isn't the same thing as power. However, I don't buy into your comparison of the two systems.
