iPad 2? Want to update from jailbroken

I got an iPad on 5.1.1, it's jailbroken and I want to just update to the newest apple firmware, can I just update without any issues, I do not longer care if it's jailbroken so that's not an issue, so will updating it simply just erase the jailbreak?

Edit....sorry didn't see there was an actually iPad section I could have posted in.

Well the answer is that you should back up your iPad first, then you can update without any worries. There is every chance that it will make you go through recovery and restore your backup that way (it's done that to me 3 times now). And yes, the jailbreak itself will be removed (it's not compatible with higher firmwares anyway).
