Apple has just made its second-generation iPad official! It features a 1GHz dual-core A5 chip and, finally, cameras, both on the front and rear. The new CPU is said to be up to twice as fast, with graphics performance up to nine times better than on the original iPad, while power requirements have been kept the same. Battery life is, consequently, unaltered, with Apple promising 10 hours. Pricing, too, has been left unchanged, starting at $499 for a 16GB WiFi-only iPad 2 and stretching up to $829 for a WiFi + 3G SKU with 64GB of storage. The new tablet will come with an HDMI output capable of 1080p -- which will set you back $39 for the requisite dongle, called an Apple Digital AV Adapter -- but there will sadly be no rumblings of Thunderbolt connectivity here. What you will get is an enlarged speaker grille on the back, as expected, and the same 1024 x 768 resolution and IPS LCD screen technology as on the original iPad.[/p]

Dual-core A5 processor, 2 cameras, 9x better graphics performance than the original iPad, 10 hours of battery life, 33% thinner, HD recording and iOS 4.3. It will be available March 11th in the US and March 25th internationally.
Too bad Apple never mentions how much RAM there is.

I love the aesthetics of it.
I didn't get the original iPad and I won't be getting this. The iPad just isn't worth it, in my opinion. To be honest, the iPad 2 doesn't provide many significant differences when compared to the original iPad. I'm not surprised, though. After all, it is Apple.

What a pointless piece of shiz, in my opinion. 33% lighter and 15% thinner? WHY do people INSIST on making tech THINNER? Too much free time. But then it is Apple.

After a while they will make it smaller too, so it will become the exact same thing as a iPod Touch.

Ipad = No flash; Ipad 2 = No Flash.

Yeah, Apple. You just keep spewing out toxic gizmos into poor neighborhoods in China

Underwhelming to say the least. If I really want to drop more then $700 for something no one really needs Ill get a XOOM or wait for the second Galaxy Tab. This? Thats a big o' pass from me.

Hey, a tablet that costs $500.

Either it's really good or it's an Apple product.

I'm excited to see the video where Tosh breaks it

Despite my hate towards Apple, I will admit this is definitely a nice upgrade over the original.

I LOVE Daniel Tosh. I watch his show every week!

Anyways, I'm trying to figure out why people want this over a notebook. Both are small, same size of screens basically. Is it because these are faster than the regular notebooks or something?

Because they're mainly the same thing if you break it down...

If anything I hope this just tanks the cost of the older iPads. Wouldn't mind getting a cheap tablet to watch movies on or something. And there's a few higher end iOS games I wouldn't mind trying.

That really pisses me off that apple charge so much for cheap memory. 16gb on a computer is almost useless, there's no sd slot and no usb. I think I'll pass on this and go with something that had what I want. There's going to be a lot of competition in this market this year.
