Scientists have created the first device to render an object invisible in three dimensions.

The "cloak", described in the journal Science, hid an object from detection using light of wavelengths close to those that are visible to humans.

Previous devices have been able to hide objects from light travelling in only one direction; viewed from any other angle, the object would remain visible.

This is a very early but significant step towards true invisibility cloaks.

...what if you hide the invisibility cloak under an invisibility cloak?

Still, interesting. I wonder what its uses would be though...

I thought I posted in here...

I said I'd noticed this yesterday, but didn't read in detail. Read the BBC article this time though.

But where the hell did my post go?

Cool, now I can sneak around in Hogwarts and... oh, wait.

I'd love to see this public in the future. But, there is no chance in hell that it'll happen. Imagine all the security issues!

I hate it when it's attributed to him...cloaks have been used far earlier...

I'm going out on a limb here, but I can only imagine that its uses would be....well.....making things invisible
