I just finally got my Switch yesterday so clearly, I'm pretty hyped about that. I'm a pretty cheap person though because I don't have a *real* job and I don't have a lot of money to throw around. Because of this, I decided not to buy a $20 case and used a DS lite case that I had laying around from like 7 years ago. It works like this

Joycons go in the two side pouches.

Switch goes in DS slot. I still have it in packaging because I don't know me how easily it scratches.

Grip/Pro controller goes in the empty space and straps are the small frontal pouch in front of the grip. Carts obviously go in the cart spots but Mario Odyssey isn't coming until Friday so I can't show that.

The case is pretty small. It's supposed to replicate a backpack but even my 8 year old arms had difficulty with it. It fits in a real backpack pretty well.

Does anyone else have any fun/clever ways to solve the same/similar issues?

There's hope for a Xenosaga port.

I got a very good quality HORI hard case.
It has space for carrying 5 game cards and it protects the system quite well.
I would recommend against it.
It is too bulky and a PITA to take the console out of it every time.
I would go for something more comforable and soft, kind of an enevelope whose top would close using velcro. No zippers, zippers are bothersome.
Something that would be more comfortable and less protective, that would allow you to take the console out and put it back in very quickly.
I saw a case like that once on a youtube video, but I forgot where...

I have the limited edition BotW Sheikah Slate pouch, had to import the game from US to get it but it was so worth it.
It's pretty bulky but it holds a lot of stuff (12 games + accessories like the JoyCon straps, earphones, USB cable...), feels sturdy and looks great.
Inside it's the same as the one in the PDP starter kit (the one with a Link's Tunic/Mario M design)
I bought a different starter kit first but it only held console + games and there was a mesh bag insert to put the console in but it was hard to get the console in and out due to the sticks catching on the elastic band holding the bag closed.

I have the same case style, but a different (non-limited edition) design. Works great for me; stores everything you'd want to carry around, including my RFID tags for Amiibos on the go.

Was that case also by PDP and officially licensed? If so, I highly recommend against using it at all. I have one, and it damaged the rubber on one of my joy-cons. Nintendo was kind enough to replace it since it was damaged by an officially licensed case, but I for one would rather have not had to send my Joy-Con in at all.

Yeah, it was by PDP. I wasn't planning on using it again, but thanks for the warning.
