Hacking installing themes on sm 4.1

According to Wiibrew installing themes with either SoftMii or MyMenuify will bannerbrick your wii on 4.1

That would seem to not be true in all cases.

Best advice one can give.... if you're going to mess around; respect and love your nand; make a backup first!!! If necessary introduce it to it's former self and remember old times together.

Yeah, that's what I said a few posts up myself. That's the best advice for anyone wanting to play with these. That way, if something screws up, you can simply restore the Wii from a backup.

Yes backing up is always a good idea. The majority of Wii owners new to these forums probably have a new Wii however. And from what i understand backing up NAND is a worthless activity on a Wii with no bug in Boot1. Bootmii as IOS in its current form will not let you RESTORE NAND backup. I can only install bootmii/IOS

On a brighter note I installed the Darkwii 4.1U theme from the guide mentioned above and it works perfectly!
