Yeah, another thread as I'm experimenting with new stuff again

Thus far, I've been using a pair of Bluetooth headphones (Shokz OpenMove), and as expected, there was a ton of latency. So, I experimented with a pair of generic wired headphones (YF-1267 3.5mm).

The problem is that I found the inline controls (volume up/down and play/pause) to be inoperable. Pressing the buttons did nothing at all.

Meanwhile, this does work on Bluetooth headphones.

Given that it looks like there are multiple ways button signaling is done on wired headphones, can you tell me if this works on your headphones? If you have any idea what I'm talking about, please share some specifics too.

Also, pro tip: if you don't mind converting music to MP3, FTP + Media Importer is a solid alternative to QCMA. It's fast!

I can't speak for the Vita, but this happens a lot on consoles, in my experience. My Switch is fine with some headphone inputs but not others.

Random wired headphones #2: also nothing. I guess they're random earbuds that came with a phone, and the one button they have on them does nothing on the Vita.

Sony WF-C700N bluetooth buds work great with Vita. So much so that I haven't even tried any wired options, except once with some old Apple buds to confirm headphone jack function.

That's not what I asked though. Bluetooth is a standard, so I doubt there are any headphones where this doesn't work with the Vita.

I am specifically interested in the feature on wired headphones. It's in the title.

Seems to me that I bought the SONY headphones that were meant specifically for the PSP. They have volume control, forward, backward, pause, all tha shit. I'll look for them and when I find them, I'll post here whether or not they are viable. I'll look for them now so hopefully I'll chime in shortly. :)

If those are what I think they are, they use a proprietary connector.

Seems Vita's headphone jack supports mic, and fancy earbuds with buttons rely on the mic channel to send signals in non-standard ways (Apple has their way? Etc). If not supported natively, potentially a plugin could globally listen to mic input and act accordingly? The wired earbuds I use on my 2DS use a slider. And unrelated-ish, My Yowu 3G Cat Ear headphones (Bluetooth) have no perceivable lag to me.

That's what I referred to with "multiple ways button signaling is done on wired headphones". I wouldn't exactly call them fancy -- practically all earbuds I've seen packed in with phones, MP3 players and the like had that button "bump".

Oh ^_^

I don't know about that... I can see BT 5.0 on the listing, AptX obviously isn't supported by the Vita, so they must be cutting on redundancy in favour of lower latency?

Also, I wish you could try to test the latency somehow (between those headphones and Vita in particular), because it looks like a lot of people tend to get used to the latency over time. It's not like I don't trust you, I wish I could have some kind of number and a hint that could help me realise what exactly enables low latency towards BT 2.1 (Vita) devices.

But besides, since I'm looking for open ear headphones, and low latency is only featured on the highest tiers, this time I chose wired because I'm not exactly made out of money. At least I couldn't find anything in the price range of FAFO which I can hope to work the way I like, since I still don't know what to look for.
