Somehow, through a method of Gecko OS's Ocarina or some other type of method to allow Rock Band instruments to work on earlier Guitar Hero games and vice versa? Though I'm fully aware that as of now, the only computability cross is with Rock Band 2/World Tour, I'm wondering to know if it's possible for earlier games. I've never been a fan of the Rock Band guitar.
And what I've always been curious about but never understood is why earlier versions never detected each other's instruments. Is it that the controllers have a certain ID the games aren't recognizing or something of the sort?
