Hardware Imation Apollo M100 HDD problem

Hi! i'm not sure if this goes here, but i had to try anyway
i got a Wii a month ago, and in this x-mas i got an external HDD, Imation Apollo M100; but my Wii can't recognize it, reading here and there it says that there's compatibility issues between them; i wanted to ask if anyone has had troubles like this, and if there's solution to my problem, or my HDD just won't work
