I have always, and will always recommend a Cyclo DS Evolution. Yes, it is the most expensive, but it is the best! Best features, best support, the best. Plus, as luck would have it, I happen to be selling a brand new one on the gbatemp wts forum for $26+shipping. As you probably know, usually Cyclo's sell new for anywhere from $40-50US+shipping. I know, since you are new, you can't get into the forum yet. But if you are interested and can pay with paypal, pm me and maybe we can work something out. Please feel free to check my feedback forum and see what other tempers who have done biz with me have to say. Thanks.

I replied and didn't know that there were a few post before mine lol. Okay my son is 8 and his bigger brother some time plays too he is 12.

I'm not sure if we're going to get an DSi but for $7 difference I think the AceKard 2i is future proof? Do you guys agree?

So based on recommendations here, should I get an AceKard 2i and then ugprade with Sakura firmware?

Is there any posibilities that AceKard will brick my son DS? (someone said fake R4 can).

SleepingDragon, what is the key difference between Cyclo DS Evolution and the AceKard 2.1/2i which most recommend here?

I have to agree. I friggin love my CycloDS Evolution. If I play DS games it's probably because of it

But it is a tad expensive, that's true. Any of the cheaper options (AceKard 2.1, iTouch DS, DSTT, et al) will be more than enough. The AceKard 2.1 has the advantage of having the AKAIO dev team behind it, so it's prolly the one cart with the best support (but I like my Cyclo more, still!). Get the one you like the most, but do not get an R4/M3 Simply. They are good cards, but they have become obsolete in terms of support, functionality and price.

Edit: In terms of extras, the CycloDS Evolution has real-time saves, something the AK2.1 lacks, AFAIK. They are pretty much the same in every other aspect, but the Cyclops Team (the CycloDS' devs) have proven to be GREAT. They are constantly releasing firmware updates, mostly betas, have an active forum and are quick to fix whatever needs fixing.

The Acekard 2i won't brick your DS and it works on the Japanese DSi (with the current fw version), but it is plausible that the DSi's coming to USA/AU/EU are coming with a newer fw that blocks out the current DSi flashcarts and then the Acekard 2i won't work. (And maybe you have to buy another one)

So, you may want to wait, but the deal of SleepingDragon is also interesting.. (Very cheap and trusted)

Edit: The CycloDS Evolution is inferior to the Acekard 2.1/i, but the features aren't needed.

Edit2: The Acekard 2.1/i can't be "upgraded" with M3Sakura, only the M3 DS Real/M3Sakura (flashcart). (But it is also possible to run a hacked version on the iTouch)

Acekard's can't use the Sakura firmware. Sakura firmware can only be used on the itouch, M3 Real and some other cards. You can use sakura on other cards, but its a hacked version that doesn't play games. AKAIO is a better firmware anyway personally. Also, CycloDS is pretty much the card with the most features on the market. It's got Real-Time Save, SlowMo, and In-Game guide functions. But if you don't think you're kids will use those, go for an Acekard. Acekard imo, has the best GUI of them all. Easiest to use, and looks great, with great skinning support. AKAIO also has a built in music and text reader, if you think your kids will use that. DealExtreme also sells MicroSDHC cards for really cheap. I'm currently using one of their OEM 4GB ones, and I've already got more games on my DS than I can handle and still have a gig left. Thats with alot of music too. Might want to look into one.

Edit- Also, no non-fake card I know of will brick your DS. If it does, I'm sure the forum wouldn't recommend it. Also, all current DSi flash cards have no support for DSi's new features. The only difference between the Acekard 2i and 2.1 is the 2i can run on the DSi.

Does the original DS (with no flashkart) can do real time save? AceKard can not do real time save?

No, the DS normally doesn't support real time save. Saving your game works on ALL flashcarts.. Real Time save gives you the ability to save whenever you want and load it later. It's compatability is kind of iffy though. It causes issues on some games. Acekard does not support Real Time Save yet, but I'm sure either the AK team or the AKAIO team will get around to it eventually.

I think now its down to AceKard 2 or Cyclo DS Revolution.

Well I saw my son once played a game with his friend, they both played the same game but I know my son doesn't have the game. I'm guessing they play via wifi (not sure). Does AceKard 2 support that kind of thing? I see that Cyclo DS can do "Two or more DS players can share a single cartridge and all play together with its 100% download play enables feature."

More questions
- just to confirm again, dealextreme website only show AceKard 2 AKA2 but there is no AceKard 2.1. How do I know that I will get this 2.1 version?
- What is TF Card in the AceKard 2 website?
- If I buy AceKard 2 AKA2 ($11.40) will I need to buy micro SDHC? or is it included?
- Do I need to download a firmware and put it in the new micro SDHC so it can run the games, or I just drag and drop the games from my PC to the new SDHC via the UBS thingy?

i have a cyclods and the real time saves have helped me out alot of times the in game. text reader is good for copy faq and using it in game (guides). slow motion helps with games that need percis timing or pressing buttoms alot. i recomnd dealwoot i bought mine there they ship from CA and i got it in 2 days and i live on the top of the east coast

Yea, but 50-60 dollars for it... is it worth it if its for 8-12 year olds? I doubt they would use real time save.

Yes, WiFi, Download Play and Local Play are all supported by both flashcarts. (But the Cyclo has Wii DS support)

Yes, you will get the 2.1 version.

MicroSD.

You have to buy it, but in my city, 4GB is only around 15 euros.

If you go with the Acekard 2.1 you have to install a firmware and if you go with the CycloDS Evolution, you don't have to since it has inbuild memory for the firmware and extra features. (Recovery etc.)

DS to DS download play works great with the AK2. I'm not sure about the cyclo. The link I gave you is the Acekard 2.1. they may also ship you the new version which has a sturdier build. TF cards are another term for microSD. Yes, with almost all cards (excluding G6 Real, Acekard R.P.G) you will have to buy a separate MicroSDHC. You will need to download a firmware for your acekard and place it in your microSD. After that, you can drag game roms straight to the card using the adapter it comes with.

yea thats what i thought at first but considering you get every game free you do save money. im only 14 and my lil bro who is 10 use it most of the time ps. $47 and no 2 week to 1 month wait

I would recommend an M3 Real but seeing as it's for your kid and not for you then I would get an AK 2.1 or DSTT or EDGE. Simple, cheap and easy to use. Oh and by the way, STEER CLEAR OF ANYTHING R4 D:!?!

Better stay away from the TTDS/DSTT, it is inferior to the Acekard 2.1 and there are many clones of it. (Acekard 2.1 isn't that more expensive also)

Are you people thick in the head? You would have to be mentally challenged to not see the AK2 is the best deal out there right now. Not only is it one of the cheapest, it has the BEST team (TWO of the best teams at that), full compatibility and the firmware is (mostly) open-source, so you never have to really worry about losing support. There are also no clones available of the AK2 or AKRPG (yet).

Also, Newegg had a Transcend 8GB Class 6 microSDHC card available for $13.49 USD. I picked one up for myself and it's amazing. I don't know if they still have that deal, but if they do you should jump on that immediately (I wish I had bought myself two of them).

R4 sucks. Get either a CycloDS Evolution (50$ but well worth it) or the Acekard 2.1 (which is 12$). The CycloDS Evolution is the best flashcart out there. It has Real Time Save, Text Loader, Slow-Mo and some more. It also has very, very great support, one of the best GUI's, and is a quality product. The Acekard 2.1 is the second best flashcart, but it is nowhere near as good as CycloDS.

I bought a Cyclo about 2 weeks ago, and it's awesome. But just get a Cyclo.
