Hacking I'm new, which R4?

Great, another person who wants a crappy R4. To get rid of these threads we should have a sticky telling how much the R4 sucks. It stopped production months ago and now all we have are fakes.

For what your "boy" wants to do, just get an Acekard 2 they are only $12 and are a good quality product.
If you want to get your "boy" something a little better, then get a CycloDS.

Well, since the majority suggested AceKard, I did ordered it from dealextreme on Feb 22nd. But until now my order is "Waiting for supplier".

My bank has been charged, I sent them a message but no respond.

Edit, just checked again and status "Order received - in stock". Phew finally one step ahead...

dealextreme is not that reliable (hope it spelled it right) when it comes to stocking/shipping information.
even it says its on stock it can take a few days before it ships.
but at the end you will be fine, ordered from them a few times.
acekard is a good choice, make sure to install the akaio firmware once it arrives.

Wait, actually I have an R4 in my DS right now...
However, I've had this one for years. It's best to look elsewhere at this time, maybe Acekard or Cyclo. Perhaps DSTT, it's not too expensive.

Hey guys, the AceKard 2.1 finally arrived. Ordered 2/22 and shipped 3/4, arrived today 3/16 to east coast.

Anyway, I'm kinda confused what should I do first?

I have a new 4GB microSDHC (going to get 8GB soon).
These are stuff I've downloaded so far:
- AKAIO v1.4.1 PROPER
- ak2_415_20090217_release.zip
- osup2.5.zip

What should I do first?? Help....
Then where do I put the games roms?

are not needed

To 'install' the AKAIO firmware, just extract the files from the zip archive, then copy the __aio folder and akmenu4.nds to the card root

then you go ahead and put your games and homebrew where ever you want on the card, but you should organize it into folders.

To do GBA, you need a slot-2 card, like an EZ Flash 3-in-1 or EZ IV

you have a few options for video, you can do dpg in moonshell, which is the most popular, and is pretty good quality, or you could do xvid + mp3 with TunaviDS, you still need to convert it though, last format is dsvideo, the quality is sort of ok, but the image looks funny. I suggest going with moonshell, there's a guide to doing videos on it here http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=355...t=0&start=0

I suggest you use lower quality settings in the converter though. Ultra takes far too long and with multiple passes it could take quite some time.

Here's what I think: if you were going for the R4, go with the DSTT. Why? Because it's cheap and can do even more then the R4. I wouldn't go spend $50 on a card, $6 is fine with me.
