Gaming If I connect my laptop with internet access to my PS3 with an ethernet cable will the PS3 tell Sony I have been using open manager to load my backups?

I connected my PS3 to my laptop via an ethernet cable in order to run an FTP server on it. My laptop has access to my wireless network which my PS3 couldn't access because it is password protected. I was wondering if doing so allowed my PS3 to gain internet access and tell Sony I have been using open manager to load my backup games.

EDIT: Nothing shows up under the "What's New" section if that helps.

your PS3 will simply be networked, you need something like a bridging cable if internet cnxn is shared - if i recall well

basically no, your PS3 won't communicate with Sony - since it can't possibly gain internet

be extra safe and just disable internet in the network settings (i believe its the first option).
