I know it's a bit early, but let's start a discussion roundtable for those hackers on GBATemp dying to hack the Wii U when it comes out and start a game plan here. So, what are some ideas that we know now after E3 on stuff we can do to hack the Wii U?

We could use a bruteforce :tpi:

(as this isn't the EoF i'll just say its far to early to even think of hacking the wii U)

I know but I'm just saying rough ideas
That would probably be mostly random, half hearted guesses.

To hack a console, you would need loopholes in the software or exploits from games at the very least.

Since we have none of those, this thread is redundant

With the security on the 3DS being rock solid, I have no doubts Nintendo will do just as good or possibly even step it up further on the Wii U. Right now, I'm not holding my breathe until a vulnerability of any type is found for the 3DS or Wii U.

Who knows, maybe they will slip up somewhere and the hardest part is to find a hoop for softmodders to jump through.

I think it's way too early to even be thinking about that. The console hasn't been released yet. There is no possible way to even speculate how to hack it.

You may be trying to help, but stop. None of the serious hackers who are actually likely to hack the WiiU are going to come to a thread like this one on GBATemp for ideas on how to hack a console. They already know methods that have worked in the past (which is pretty much all anyone here will suggest), and can also come up with plenty of new ones themselves. There is not going to be anything useful posted here, even after the console is released. Just look here: http://gbatemp.net/topic/307018-awesome-3ds-hacking-theories/ It is impossible for anyone to predict what sort of hack will or will not work on the WiiU at this point. This topic is redundant.

I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar

    nope
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
@Xdqwerty you can use a "spawner" function on any object.

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Or when your player dies, you can say in code, if enemy exists, do nothing, but if enemy does not exist, then create enemy at certain spot. (This would be a pain tho for lots of emeies)

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Easiest, simple way would be just restart scene, but player would restart from beginning.
