Hi!

I need help! I think I loose all my saves and all my installed games, DLC, ... (More than 1000h of played time in smash bros :/ )

Let me explain:
I had ALL my games, saves, updates and DLC on my USB HDD. I copied all of my Wii U memory into my HDD using the data management. It was working great!

Today, I setted up RedNAND. So all my games worked ne fifrom Sysnand & RedNAND.
I formatted SYSNAND to unlink RedNAND.
Before formatting, I removed the HDD and the SD Card.

On my new Sysnand, my HDD isn't recognized (normal)
So I boot into my RedNAND, but my HDD isn't recognized either!! All my games and saves are gone! I have to reformat the HDD in RedNAND... Why? Isn't the HDD assosiated with a NAND? Is formatting the SYSNAND interacted on Rednand?

Did I loose all my saves?

I thought it was like the 3DS... I can format SysNAND without loosing my games & saves on REDNAND :(
No it does not work like 3ds and your problem has been discussed several times on the site. If you unlink your nand you need to reinstall all games to the hard drives as u said this has been clearly stated in several threads on this site.

And there is no way to plug the HDD to the computer and extract saves from it?

Not going to solve your issue, but:

You could create a disk image of your hdd and hope that your issue can be solved in the future.

That way you can format your hdd and and keep playing games, but you still have the old content in case a workaround is discovered.

Have you actually tried it? I managed to do just that with a Wii U-formatted pendrive.

Q : What happens if I do end up formatting sysNAND? Do I lose anything?
A : You won't lose anything that was installed on your NAND; however, formatting sysNAND will unlink any external drive and NNID linked to the console. You will have to reformat the drive after formatting sysNAND. This means reinstalling all the games you had on it, so make sure you backup your saves before formatting sysNAND!

i have no idea how to fix so sorry for your loss but if i was you i would from now back up all the saves to saveiine before doing anything

I think it's not well known exactly how the sysnand-rednand linking comes into play, and a lot of people are just going off knowledge from the 3DS scene. Perhaps all guides should be updated to include warnings to backup saves via Saviine.

That being said, maybe there's hope one day that you could extract data from those drives, depending on how they work:

I don't know anything about this though. @NWPlayer123 any insight?

You know what dd is?
With it, you can make an image of whatever you want, as lomg as you can read the bytes
Only for linux. If you use Windows you might want to try Win32diskimager. It does pretty much the same as dd.

Uhm i can't store another 1TB data right now so 1:1 copy is not an option for me. And thats what win32diskimager do. Dump the whole hdd even if its empty.
