Hello

i am planning to get "gateway 3ds" to play some Japanese games because in normal circumstances i am unable to obtain ( and yes pirating is wrong and nothing justifies it ).

i am still learning Japanese so i am not looking for games with really complex/historical dialogue, i am looking for something within the level of 6th graders vocabulary but still fun e.g pokemon :P

i am planning to play "shingeki no kyojin" and "Dragon quest" among others, i can play any game genre so the real barrier is the language not game type:).

thanks

IIRC the Pokemon games are usually fairly good for this. Then again I know next to nothing about Japanese, so that may just be me talking out my ass. I know you mentioned them in the OP, but not sure if you actually tried them in Japanese :P

how are you learning the language bro?
I''m currently on that journey too
i tried many "ways" and all didn't work for me, so i tried my own :)
i am currently plowing through kanji using the joyo system and also learning the common jukugo of the kanji i memorize, i use joyo anki deck and 2 really helpful Android apps "Obenkyo" and "Jsho" which are really really a must have .

i also use audio immersion just leave anime or NHK radio open while surfing the interwebz ,i find this to be really important as it helped me alot learning.

Like Kaylejoy said, Tomodachi life not sure about animal crossing, helped me a lot in my japanese

Play Tomodachi Life and Animal Crossing in Japanese. Lots of daily vocabulary.

Edit: Youkai Watch looks fun to play with kid-friendly vocab too (similar to Pokemon).

Like Kaylejoy said, Tomodachi life not sure about animal crossing, helped me a lot in my japanese

"yo-kai watch" seems fun ,but i have been hesitant abit about it :p
as for "doubutsu no mori" i can relate to the to the daily vocab usage but i have already played it for 100hrs~ , i'd rather not go through that road again.

I think you should give Yokai Watch a chance (you can check out this video to get an idea about the reading difficulty) and playing just a few minutes of Animal Crossing at a time might be helpful since you are so familiar with the material already.
didn't expect that there would be lets learn video ( lets play video ), that caught me off guard
the graphics seem interesting and the vocab is just in my level <3, thanks :) i will certainly try it.

Edit: any more games the use furigana ?
i know that professor layton uses it but any other ?

FYI, especially if you're learning the language - Don't call Japanese anything "Jap." I know you don't mean anything by it, but historically, it's a racial slur and very insulting.

J-games and JP games are good alternatives.

Games I really want to be localized but would not go as far as trying to learn Japanese in order to play them:

E.X. Troopers - Reminds me of Lost Planet
One Piece: Super Grand Battle! X - I might actually play this in Japanese if it's not localized
Dragon Quest VII

Edit:

Both Monster Hunter 4G and Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai are going to be localized in 2015, really no point in playing these games in Japanese.
