I need some help identifying a strange bug

For the past few years I have been studying and trying to figure out this one strange caterpillar-like worm
It's hard to describe, but I finally got one large enough to get a clear picture of it and this is it

Anyone have any ideas what it is?

They were caught, I finally caught 2 of them, both about the same size and both just as ugly

I think its a mealworm

you trying to drown it?

maybe put it in jar
give it some twigs and leaves, for shelter and food
then put it somewhere warm and see if it evolves into a kakuna or medapod or it might be a new type
i will ask oak

It doesn't change (from what I can tell, I had one alive for a month before I started studying it.) As well it lives in water.
I know mealworms and it's neither a mealmorm nor a superworm.

It lives in water and doesn't change from what I can tell.

After some time of research and jumping from link to link I found it
It's a Crane fly larva.
Well now that I know what it is, I am requesting a lock...although I wonder how long it takes to change

,but that wasn't the point of this thread, so requesting lock
