Hi Everyone :)

I am new here (sorry if this post doesnt belong here and also sorry for my English).
I have a old2ds 11.3 with cfw A9LH. I want to upgrade to b9s with this https://3ds.guide/a9lh-to-b9s. But on the step where it says holding Start to launch the Luma3DS chainloader menu, it doesnt work.
I tried everything to make it work, but it did not work. I also tried to uninstalling A9LH but it did not work. Now i want to format my old2ds with the formatting settings of the old2ds.
So i have few Questions. When i format my 2ds will A9LH also deleted from my 2ds and which firmware do i have after the formatting? Do i have the new Firmware version 11.5 or am i on 11.3 after the formatting?

Old2ds 11.3
Luma updater 1.4.2
Current installed version: 7.0.5-f5aa6393

Did you put the payload on the /luma/payloads/ directory? remember that while on A9LH the extension must be the .bin file, and on B9S the extension changes to .firm.

can we have a picture of your root and root/luma/payloads?

you need luma 8.0 or higher if you already installed b9s

There is no arm9loaderhax.bin in this file only a boot.firm, boot.sha and exception_dump_parser.py

I had this issue due to a faulty start button. I don't remember if I renamed it x_SafeB9SInstaller.bin or if I renamed it arm9loaderhax.bin and put it on root, but either of those should work

EDIT; If the X_ worked then X was held to boot

Luma3ds is already on v7.0.5. And i renamed it to x_SafeB9SInstaller.bin and arm9loaderhax.bin but it did not work.
What happens if I format my 2ds? What firmware version would it have?

Renaming it to arm9loaderhax.bin and putting it on root should work though.. arm9loaderhax loads from /arm9loaderhax.bin
You can replace Luma's arm9loaderhax.bin with it, after installing B9S, it starts looking for boot.firm instead which still fits with the guide

It did not work but thanks for the quick responses. Maybe i messed up something. I will format my o2ds. Which methods do i have?

Formatting your 2DS will have no effect except for removing your games and user data. Are you super sure you put SafeB9SInstaller.bin on the root of your card renamed to arm9loaderhax.bin and it didn't open on start up? just verify this for us.

Next question. What happens if you boot up without the SD card in? Does it still boot? If yes, and you are super sure you tried the previous step and it did not boot into SafeB9SInstaller then that sounds like you have a faulty SD card and it is not reading stuff from it. In this case, move your luma/payloads folder (with SafeB9SInstaller in it) to the CTR-NAND using FBI. Then it should work.

If it doesn't boot without the SD card in then you mustn't have followed the steps given to you properly.

Your start button might be faulty also, idk. Try by renaming "start_" to match one of the buttons, X for example, like "x_SafeB9SInstaller.bin"
