does the region really matter? and where do i place rom files?

If you're looking to play English games, then try USA, Europe, or Australia.
For any other languages outside of English, but no Japanese, try Europe, or Australia.

Also, the ROMs can be placed anywhere except the "_nds" folder.

sorry for asking so many questions but how big are the chances that any of the mods stop working? i dont want to run into trouble later, i just wanna mod the ds, get the games and just play the games lol

Update: i found out that my (old) camera has a 32 gb sd card that fits in both my laptop and Dsi, and my camera sucks so I'm going to be using the sd card to mod my dsi.
I'm unnecessarily scared but worrying is my profession so yeah

Well guess what? I reinstalled the ndstt software some time after modding my 3ds and then i tried booting it up from the actual dsi menu, AND IT WORKED. not sure why that did not work the first time around though.
