Gaming i just bought a psp

it depends what type of slim it is, chk around I believe it has to do with the motherboard. Theres no problem wit the firmware, u can install IF it was a hackable motherboard, just search around, google is ur friend.

2000, or 3000?

If it's 2000, it might be possible. Although I'm not to familiar with the 2000's and their hacking development.

If it's a 3000, then you can NOT hack it to have CFW. That's why your best bet is either the PSP-1000-2000.
 
it says 2001 How can I check the motherboard without openning up console?
also the 1st few numbers of the serial code is ab0106 if that helps any
 
If it came with 3.80 installed it's fine, since the newer Mobo's launched with 4.01. Update the firmware to 5.03 OFW, run ChickHen and then PSPIdent to be sure. Then run Hellcats Recovery Flasher via the HEN too and install CFW.
