Hacking I feel bad for DS-X owners now...

I had bought one of those broken(qkin) ds-x cards, but returned it today with an RMA to modchipstore.com. They made a happy customer out of me by taking that piece of crap back.

Thanks to this forum, I managed to find out that R4 kicks the ever living crap out of DS-X. I felt so mislead by their false promises of firmware updates and fixes. I visit there every once in a while to see if they solved the issue, but it is still ongoing.

Now to my initial reason for this post:

i feel real bad for those that are sticking out over there at DS-X. It is a losing battle. R4/M3 now rule the slot 1 market. Why do they even bother at this time? Shouldn't they just pack up shop and tell everyone to go home? I know I sound a bit smug, but I am sure I am not the only one feeling this way at this time.

Omg, it's a flashcart fanboy.

It's not like R4 is better in every way then DS-X or something, think about FAT based homebrew compatibility. (although I assume/hope it will improve for R4 in the future as it just requires a different fatlib for it)
Also, DS-X is still the only card of all which is able to support some complex single card download play games. (Mario64, Worms and NSMB for example)
And the ds-x has a nicer skin, although I wish it didn't take ages for the skinning software to come out. (On the other hand, the English R4 users are also still waiting for skinning support, skinning support is theoretically available from the beginning at ds-x, just somewhat to complex)

Kindly explain to me what the hell the difference is? Sure it doesnt have removable media, but thats kinda the point to why I bought it. It plays the games without patching, it holds enough for me, I dont need 600 games on my ds to show off to my friends, I dont watch 4"x 4" movies with distorted sound, I could really give a rats ass about homebrew, and your R4 and M3 simply dont run gba games either. On behalf of the DS-Xtreme community, shut the hell up.

Meh. Homebrew and DL play will get fixed. Not a worry.

I almost got stuck with that crappy DS-X card though. Limited memory, "qkin" error, etc. :'(

I would say the R4 and DS-X are equally good at this point, in terms of balancing between the positive and the negative things on both sides. However, the R4 will be better in a few months. But that doesn't mean the DS-X is a bad product.

for crying out loud, the Qkin error is on ONE batch of cards, and its being resolved. Infact, as I understand it, if you format the card it works fine. As for limited memory, when was the last time you needed more then 16 games at one given time? Do you have ADHD or something?

If I had a choice to carry 2GB worth of games as apposed to 512mb of games. Which would you prefer? If you say 512mb, you are a liar.
And if all I have to do to upgrade more flash space is drop $25 for another 1GB card, praise the lord! I won't have to buy another DS-X card to do so.

You can't fit 600 games. There is no distorted sound. And I love the idea of saving $75.

I decree a new rule of thumb: any owners that can afford DS-X should easily be able to afford other slot-1 solutions.

The exceptions are:
*you're still a teenage kid without a job, and you saved up money to buy something hastily
*you're a college kid without a job, and you saved up money to buy something hastily
*you're sadly an adult without a job, and you saved up money to buy something hastily
*something physically/mentally/financially devastating has happened to you in months time
*a steady flow of income, of the strictest definition, that has slowly collapsed... combined with mindless investments.

I totaly agree with screamster101. I've got a ds-x, it works, but looses the save games (corrupted says the gam). Fuck the homebrew, I'm not a liar, didn't buy this pice of crap to play homebrew. I've got a palm, don't need that crappy agenda, I've got an mp3 player, don't need one in my card, I don't like doom and I don't want to use messenger in my DS. All I wanted was a card to put some games that I own all in one place and be able to play them. Can't do that, the crappy card currupts the save games, got back to my original games and left the DS-X (D suxs) asside. I'm so pissed off. Listen to me, DON'T BUY THIS PIECE OF CRAP, IF YOU WANNA TOSSA YOU MONEY AWAY GIVE IT TO ME, I'LL USE IT TO BUY BEER!!!!
