Sort of a quick run down:

Use 0.1, and not 0.1.1, the latest version is reporting issues.
make sure the save and inject folders are empty
Dump save
you might want to compare dumps using the jpg file that's in each numbered folder
you should see caption.jpg caption.sav game_data.sav

I only ever inject the game_data.sav and keep the original caption files, so which ever number you are editing (say 5 just as an example) you would put it in the inject folder like so .....\inject\5\game_data.sav

then inject using the program.
in both 4.1.0 (my console) and 2.3.0 (my cousins console) you can't immediately test the save. I believe it's an affect of running the current methods of homebrew. Just restart without exploits and you should be able to play the edited save.

Hey, everything seemed good except the dumping part. When I dump using the tool, it does dump the files, but it never says done, and i think it is incomplete. After waiting a while, i quit and try to use the online botw save editor. The editor says its an invalid file, which leads me to believe it's not dumping correctly. Thanks!

I would say make sure to use 0.1, but checkpoint is working on all current firmware, and for me at least it extracts the save much faster now. gbatemp dot net/threads/release-checkpoint-a-fast-and-simple-save-manager-for-3ds-and-switch.503899/

I'm having to dump with checkpoint and inject with the first version of the Yallnut tool. Checkpoint fails to inject every time.

I have to test with an edited save, but unedited save injection works. make a backup and immediately restore that backup to test and make sure it isn't an issue with the app. I'll get back to you with results.

@hudhair also use a dummy account just to be safe. but edited save injection worked for me. Make sure it's the newest version of checkpoint. maybe also try a different SD card. Hope you get it to work.
