its formatted fat32, and its not a chinese knockoff, it can be read fine but nothing wants to write to it (minus my pc) its a lexar.Based on my memory some homebrew may have issues writing to to the usb HDD if it is not formatted in Fat32 but would sometimes still read if it was ntfs... so maybe try that. Also My wii's were somewhat picky when it came to what HDD or enclosure I was using.
dont use thumb drives, they suck for use on the wii, hdd's are easy to come by, and are very cheep, 160gb hdd for like 16 bucksits formatted fat32, and its not a chinese knockoff, it can be read fine but nothing wants to write to it (minus my pc) its a lexar.
--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------
also its a usb not an hdd
--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------
everything works fine on the other wii, even on wiiu, only this specific wii is not liking me :/
--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------
i also tried 3 different sandisk drives and a kingston one, same result.
im using a usb and it works perfectly the wii just refuses to write to them, using a hdd does not help the issue. any help?dont use thumb drives, they suck for use on the wii, hdd's are easy to come by, and are very cheep, 160gb hdd for like 16 bucks
***usb*** and lexar, kingston, and sandisk all with the same issue (sandisk is a 3.0 lexar is a 2.0 and kingston idk) it works in the other wii so its not a problem with the hard drive.what kind of a hdd is it?
so you dont have a hard drive to test?maybe i am confusing, it is a usb flash drive and its an issue with the wii.

its a red mario 25th anniversary wii with a late-2008 (no-dvd) drive and it has gamecube
i said it was not an issue with the flash drive, it works fine with the other wii. and its the same result with hdd.so you dont have a hard drive to test?
you can't say "it works perfectly" because that's your problem, you told yourself it's not working like you expect !im using a usb and it works perfectly the wii just refuses to write to them
well i already got them dumped for wii now, what kind of hdd would you reccommend?you can't say "it works perfectly" because that's your problem, you told yourself it's not working like you expect !
Flash drives (don't call them ***usb***) can't write !
use a Hard drive device (also ***usb***) and it will fix your problem.
note that "USB" is not a device type, it's a connector type.
HDD are USB
Flash drive/key are USB too
your problem is well known, it's because you use flash drive.
flash drive freeze when you try to write to them.
you can't say it works perfectly when it works only half (read but not write).
even if you say it works fine with another wii, it's still a known issue with many users using flash drives. your new console is not compatible with that flash drive.
you said it's "same result with hdd" ? are you sure you tested HDD ? because we can't help you if you lie, and we can't help you if it really is not working with HDD too. (not that we don't want to help you, but we don't have a solution if HDD are not working!)
you don't need cIOS236, and if you have an issue it's completely unrelated to your current write problem.
Please, don't install 236, it's not useful and no more homebrew will use it anyway.
You should reinstall d2x r52 base56 in your slot 249 (instead of r53) as r53 will have issues with some HDD and games too.
