I went into Sainsbury's to buy some gherkins and yoghurt and I came out with a PS4.

I got a PS4 with Watch Dogs and TLOU Remastered for £400 and just had to pick it up. I've had it for nearly two weeks and I've got to say I'm loving it and I'm really enjoying it. So I thought I'd share my thoughts on the system.

Starting from aesthetics, I like the look of the system. I obliviously got the black one cos racism and it looks sexy on my set up. Moving onto to the controller, it is a really good controller. It feels great to hold and I just enjoy playing gaems with it. Compared to the DS3, the DS4 is a dramatically improved controller. Great controller, would totally recommend it.

I like the OS as well. Remember the how slow fucking slow the PS3 OS is? The PS4 OS is so much better and shit just loads so much better. Compared to my PS3 and Wii U, the speed difference in the interface is really like night and day.

I've tried out Remote Play with my Vita and it works surprisingly well. Shit works really well and looks great on the Vita screen. It is pretty comparable to off screen play on the Wii U bar the whole 30 fps limit.

Ironically for a system with no gaems, I've got quite a few gaems to play via PS+ and cross buy. So far I've only finished Watch Dogs which was alright and I'm close to finishing Strider which is pretty good. I like my Metroidvania and this is a damn decent gaem particularly as PS+ freebie. I've got Destiny pre ordered so I'm looking forward to that.

So yeah, I really like my PS4 and I'm looking forward to the upcoming titles. I had my PS3 for five years now so entering Next Gen now feels pretty damn good.

So yeah, add me if you want to play Warframe with me.

I bought one too. So far, 9 months in, I own no games and have played nothing worthwhile on it. It probably has a year or two before anyone should think of purchasing one.

The interface is far from perfect. Speed aside, it didn't take long before I was annoyed by how stupid the tile idea is. Every game you own pops up as a tile, 'till it's a shitstorm of tiles. I have my PS3 crossbuy games, digital games from stores across two regions, demos and disc game tiles all displayed on one screen, and they shift position whenever you play them. PS3's interface wasn't ideal, but with PS4's speed and a few adjustments, it would be PERFECT. I feel that Sony gave up on XMB a bit too soon, because they could have made it work this time.

Yeah the PS4 OS is nice, apart from the glaring issues like others have mentioned. A never ending bar of games and apps etc which gets annoying as hell when you have like a dozen or so retail games, the whole collection of Instant Game Collection and also a few digital games. Its a 2 minute fix for Sony to sort that out yet 9 months down the line haven't tackled it in any way.

Also, one theme, boring blue? Please! If nothing else right now, at least give us an option to change colour or something.

Scrolling through a massive list of games each time wasn't exactly ideal either.

That's why I said Sony could have improved upon XMB. I would welcome alphabetical sorting, with sub-sections for each letter of the alphabet. Scrolling through tons of titles was the biggest problem I had with PS3's interface, but it's a flaw that's still present in the PS4's interface. Like I said, each game creates a tile. This isn't a huge deal now, but it will be in a couple of years, and the tiles just won't do. All I could ever ask for is an XMB with a more advanced sorting system and easier file and folder management. Then you could create folders for genres, platforms (well, these DO exist on PS3 already), favorites and so on. PS4's interface is a bit of a mess, to be honest.

Awesome. I want to say congratulations. I am looking forward to this system someday but not right now. :) Have fun with it!

I've had my first playstation (4) for about 7 weeks now and its a massive step up from what i am use to (wii u - wii- gcn). Got watchdogs and TLOU. I thought watch dogs was awesome and we all know about TLOU....But yeah, couldn't be happier....Although I'm shitted off with my L stick peeling away....That is absolute garbage....

I've used the same DS4 controller since I got my PS4 on launch day, for both PC gaming and PS4 gaming, and I have yet to have anything peel off of the thumb sticks. Like, my controller has at least 500 hours of gameplay on it and it shows almost no wear.

I swear, it's like people chew on their controllers or take sandpaper to it or something.

Those worried about that issue can just get some of these, I have them on mine.

Should have told me. I would have gotten you 10% off :)

edit:
or should have told me and I would have sold you mine with 5 games for 300!
This was a brand new console, only used 5 times in total. Last one broke so I got replacement from shopto recently.
