How to setup Emunand/ keep Sysnand online

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
Aiming of having Emunand in this topic is to max out Sysnand to play online while Emunand stays offline

IF YOUR SYSTEM WAS BANNED YOU'D STOP READING FROM HERE
> DO NOT check whether you're got banned yet by connecting to the Internet or so.

There is always at least a risk to get you banned or unlikely to brick your Switch.
YOU'RE AT YOUR OWN RISK

> Backup RawNand and BOOT0/1 using SX Bootloader, Hekate or any trusted tools out there

1. NEW EMUNAND
YOU HAVE TO RE-INSTALL ALL GAMES AFTER CREATING EMUNAND
> Backup all your savedata using Checkpoint or your trusted homebrew.
Follow these steps below
  1. CLEAN UP SYSNAND
  2. UPDATE SYSNAND FIRMWARE
  3. CREATE EMUNAND
  4. UPDATE EMUNAND FIRMWARE OFFLINE (if needed)
to update your emunand to the latest firmware

+ Unnecessary steps but it will let you feel safer
Access NAND using PC

What you will need
- biskeydump
https://files.sshnuke.net/biskeydumpv6.zip
Run the payload and write down (or scan QRCode) Bis Key 2
BIS KEY 2 (crypt): NUMBERS
BIS KEY 2 (tweak): NUMBERS

- memloader
https://files.sshnuke.net/memloaderv2.zip
Copy *.* in [sample] folder to SD and plug it in the Switch
Run the payload [memloader.bin]
Unplug any USB cable
> Choose emmc line
> Plug USB C <> USB A cable to the Switch and PC

- HacDiskMount
https://files.sshnuke.net/HacDiskMount1055.zip
Run the tool under Administrator permission
> Open Physical Disk > Choose Linux line

Crysto > BIS KEY 2 (crypt): NUMBERS
Tweak > BIS KEY 2 (tweak): NUMBERS
> Press on [Test] > you will get OK! Entropy
> From Drive Letter table > Choose a drive disk, N for example.
> Press on [Mount]
Install driver if needed.
Acess N drive from My Computer

+ Clean Ticketblob
> access save folder
> Copy 80000000000000e1 and 80000000000000e2 to your PC.
> Delete them in save folder

+ Clean Error Logs
> access save folder
> Delete 80000000000000D1

> Press on [Unmount] and unplug the USB cable
> Press on [Power] button for 15s or so to reboot the system

+ Factory Restore Settings
> This will clean all ticketblob and error logs
Stay OFFLINE
> Settings > System > Factory Restore Settings (or System Initializing)
> Say NO when asking Internet connection
> Press on on the red button after all to restore.

UPDATE SYSNAND FIRMWARE
Skip this step if your Switch is up to date.

Complete the system initializing
> Connect Wifi to the Internet
> Optional > Create a new account and link it
> Settings > System > System Update
> Update your system to the latest firmware

Optional > Factory Restore Settings while staying ONLINE to make it completely cleans up.

DELETE ALL WIFI CONNECTION AND STAY AIRPLANE MODE.
> After creating Emunand, it must have NO CONNECTION.

CREATE EMUNAND
SD card must be plugged in to the system in order to boot SX OS Bootloader Menu

> On SX 2.3 Beta, the Emunand will be created on the SD card, the SX's Nintendo folder is renamed to Emutendo so that it won't affect to the keyblobs that can wipe out data on SD.

> Boot to SX OS Bootloader Menu (payload.bin) by holding [Vol+] button
> Option
> EmuNAND
> Advanced
> [Copy USER partition to EmuNAND] > [YES]
The process will take about 30 minutes if the system is now empty.

You will get Success

> Back to the main menu (3 big buttons)
> Turn on Emunand (on top of the first button)

> Turn off the system

UPDATE EMUNAND FIRMWARE OFFLINE
> ChoiDujourNX https://files.sshnuke.net/ChoiDujourNXv101.zip
> Copy ChoiDujourNX.nro to \switch\ in your SD
> Download new firmware update
> Place all files to a folder, fwxxx for example
> Run ChoiDujourNX form Homebrew Menu on Emunand
> Choose fwxxx folder
It will load all NCAs inside of the folder and will ask you
[x.x.x] or [x.x.x-exfat]
Choose one
It will continually analyze the data and will ask you
> Choose [Select Firmware]
It will read all the data from your chosen firmware
> Press on Prevent fuse burning (enable AutoRCM) to turn it off (we don't need AutoRCM when having Sysnand for online purpose), Press on Yes when it asks again.
If you'd like to have AutoRCM installed just leave it be.
> Press on [Start installation]
> [Reboot] > [Shutdown]

ENJOY WHILE IT LASTS

It's still relevant, however the linked tools are outdated. New versions can be found here: https://switchtools.sshnuke.net/
Someone made a video guide of this, I got it done myself following it:

Just don't trust that "100% clean" claim, because well.. we know the only way to actually be clean is by restoring to a nand backup you made before doing any CFW work.

I think those links are good to share here, if not, any mod can let me know to take them out.

Thanks, I was going to ask this right now...

If I have my clean backup at deck, can I just restore it and setup emunand?

I believe you already answered that by posting this video

I would highly recommend not following YouTube videos especially that one as it has bricked users' consoles. See this thread.

Since I followed that video thoroughly, as well as the OP guide, there's just a single (huge) difference:

Instead of just deleting 80000000000000e1, 80000000000000e2 and 80000000000000D1 as stated here, the video suggests to delete everything except 8000000000000120.

I deleted everything as the video said and had no issues, just saw your post, so after reading the thread you quoted I went ahead and checked if I could replicate the error, and I can't, everything's working fine, I have a prodinfo backup and I'm still able to restore it, so perhaps he did something wrong. But because it is a reported issue, we could just swap that step I mentioned to feel safe of course.

Thanks, I was going to ask this right now...

If it's a backup from before any CFW, then yes.

After doing this, would it be fine to play games I've purchased from the eshop on Sysnand? I would assume that online play even through sysnand would still be a massive no-no.

I have a question: I have my sysnand without hacks for using online, and I have my emunand for hacks offline, made with hekate. Both sysnand and emunand are on the 8.1.0 version. If I update the sysnand to 9.0.0 and use it for online playing while keeping the emunand offline on 8.1.0 version... Is it a safe way to keep both of them? I mean, would nintendo detect them as two different firmware versions even when I only use the non-hacked one for online playing and I turn off all internet connections when using the emunand (the hacked one)?

Imagining that you are using SX OS, yes, it is safe.
Yet, you have to know the firmware compatibility of your custom firmware development team (ie, SX OS is not compatible with official firmware 9.0.0 yet, so if you update your firmware the emunand will be useless).

Best option at this moment is to wait to every custom firmware to be compatible with 9.0.0.

You answered for yourself, the emunand isn't set for online, so they can't know its existence nor noticing any version difference

Hi,
Is there any way to perform the Clean SysNAND step on a Mac (I feel everything is doable except the HacDiskMount part) ?
Thanks.

EDIT :
For those wondering, I ended up performing a factory reset using ChoidujourNX and hoped that it would wipe out enough.
So far so good, I've been playing online with no issue since.

Hi, I've got a problem. My Switch is in ofw 3.0.0, with SXOS emuNAND on 8.1.0.
Tried to clean SysNAND, but now ofw is stuck on Switch logo. SXOS is booting fine.

I think that the problem originated with this step:

+ Clean Error Logs
> access save folder
> Delete 80000000000000D1

What can I do?
Is there a method to extract 80000000000000D1 from SXOS EmuNAND and restore on SysNAND?

Hi thete!
There's an option on Hekate that can Launch Stock ROM and clear logs.
Does It "clean" the NAND as the first part of this tutorial?

Were you able to fix it? I'm on the same firmware and it's stuck on the switch logo...

Hey.

I am on 9.2.0 on my havily modified sysnand with sx os and do not have emunand.
Thinking of going online for some games with a clean sysnand.
I was on the train before emunand stuff appeared and was offline all the time.
Never played online.

I have backups of firmware 5.1.0 made with SX OS and hekate, but i think they are not completely clean.
I have fuses to be able to go back to 5.1.0, but i think the better way is...

Read your post and that made me thinking of the following:

I Want to keep my current config, saves... !!!!!!!!

  • flightmode is enable all the time in sysnand! Double check this before starting!
  • Create Emunand which is a copy of sysnand with all installed NSPs, saves...
  • boot to sx os menu, and disable emunand (yellow button)
  • select boot cfw which boots to sysnand (but with cfw)
  • launch ChoidujourNX, reinstall 9.2.0 and tick "factory reset"
  • after reboot to a clean sysnand, reinstall the console and try to launch e-shop
Edit: This worked like a charme, now i have an online sysnand with OFW and and emunand CFW with all my old games, settings, saves, ...

thx a lot

Hi, so i have another switch that I want to play online and mod so this sounds like my only option.
The guide seems a bit old now, is this still current?
Any input would be great thanks
