Hardware How to remove personal data from hacked 2DS

I used the 3ds.hacks.guide tutorial to install the CFW and utilities onto my 2DS, but I need to remove all the personal data contained on it - is it possible to factory reset without removing the modifications and utilities (FBI etc)?

If you do a factory reset and wipe the SD card, then you will have to put boot.firm and boot.3dsx back on the SD card and reinstall the utilities like FBI as in https://3ds.hacks.guide/finalizing-setup . However, a factory reset does not remove b9s, so you will not have to hack everything from scratch.

Someone who is really determined could potentially make a copy of the NAND and attempt data recovery, but that seems unlikely.

Make a backup of your SD card, format the 3DS then use faketik.

Make a backup of your SD card, format the 3DS then use faketik.

Formatting the 3DS will change the encryption key. Any SD card backup made before the format will thus be useless unless the encryption key is changed back again.
