This isn't something I have talked much about before but it's worth bringing up. I'm not gonna name names but there are developers who are taking other peoples work passing it off as their own closing up the source code and turning a profit. This is the definition of scamming end users. This tutorial is written to show you how to avoid such a scam.

1.#1 Golden Rule: Homebrew is 99.9 times out of 100 times free. If you have to pay for it you are most likely being scammed.

    2. Rule #2: Always check the License of the software. If a program is licensed under the GNU General Public License V2 or V3 and you purchase it and it doesn't include the source code then the author is in violation of the License of the software and you are probably being scammed.

    3. Rule #3: As a general rule of thumb Check and see if the homebrew has a github page. If it doesn't this does not automatically mean it's a scam however the vast majority of homebrew for Xbox One does have a github page. Keep that in mind

NOTE: Rarely but sometimes the developer will release the source code on Mediafire or other file-hosting sites as is the case with developer illidanx and VBA10

These are just a few rules to keep you guys from losing any money on scams. Stay safe out there

Thanks I figured this would be useful for people who are just beginning with the Xbox One homebrew scene and more susceptible to these types of scams. I hate to see anyone get ripped off.
