ROM Hack Question How the HECK do I re-encrypt a save file?

I know about the save decrypter batch file which is a huge help. I was gonna test modding save data in a safer way on OFW but can't fathom how to use hactool to achieve this. Any help is appreciated.

Can't you export a save with checkpoint, replace the files with what you have, and import it again?

I was initially avoiding touching the OFW with CFW. I found you can just restore the save on emuMMC, copy the encrypted save files then replace them on the OFW with the emuMMC ones. Works so far.
