(such as disabling programs you normally would have startup)

Windows 7
turn on: 56 51 seconds
turn off: 21 seconds

it's a lot faster than my vista. so what's yours?

. I would install the beta but my parents think its gunna break the computer. But its WINDOWS. Why would windows break the computer/!? I tell ya, my parents are clueless. Anywyas, my computer with Vista starts up in like a minute or so and the computer that once had norton antivirus on it and is loaded with programs takes like like a minute or 2 to start up and another 10 minutes until you can actually use it.

WindowsXP
On - from power to idle, about 20-25 seconds
Off - instant... I just hold the power button (since I never turn it off, I usually have to kill it due to a freeze)

does this included bios boot up or as soon as you see the logo/loading bar?

20 sec minimum

edit: for clarity i change 20 sec to sec minimum for those who thought minutes, oh the pwnage of a quad core

Well I have tried both Vista and Windows 7 and there's no noticeable difference at all.
You guys must be lucky.

I'll post my exact times later.
