How does Wi-Fi work?
sorry if this is a stupid question

You just turn on a device with an online connection and then connect to the internet but the great part is, it's WIRELESS! You don't need a wire plugged in your thingy. It's all done "through the air" with some sort of signal that transports the data "through the air".
So basically Wi Fi means "don't buy a cable dude, because the same signal can be transported through the air and space of your own (peaceful) living room without you even noticing".

Another definition (or explanation) is that Wi Fi is some sort of magic that happens between the device that's going to receive the internet signal and the transmitting device.

Weird innit?

Wifi works by connecting to a router wirelessly, upon that it connects to the internet w/ other people doing the same. Then it (depending on what game) searches for people doing the same Action. EX - CoDWaW Your searching for wifi matches, you connect and wait for other people who are doing the samething. Error codes generally point to not being close enough to a router.
EDIT: or Berlinka's Theory... MAGIC

I read that some routers are incompatible but I don't remember which ones.

First, you have to make sure you're router is using WEP security, because WPA won't work with the DS (but WPA will work with the DSi). After making sure, you might have to configure the settings on your DS by yourself, which shouldn't be too hard; just go on your computer and look for the information, and make sure you set the last digit of the IP Address different from any of the other devices you have connected to the router, and it should work.

thanks but my router is not secured

my dad didnt put the wep key or something in cause he cant read it idk i tried to find but i cant

i think thats the problem my router is not secured

thanks for helping me:) i think ill just play wifi on my friends house

i asked why the Wi-Fi doesnt work , even though when i went to the settings it found my router but couldnt connect

and for the DSi i asked if i need to put in the WEP key of my router to it so the wifi would work.

so yea

i hope that this is clearer than the other one

sorry for the inconvenience
