Hacking How did you learn about flash carts and hacking such things?

i was big on the emulator scene since the age of 13. i even had a rom emulator website called ekoroms.wz.cz ( it was hosted on a free web server lol ) and emolators led me to the gba. i got a supercard sd when it was said to have the best compatibility and your choices were the expensive m3 or the supercards , thats it... those were the big dogs at least. Supercard sd served me well during the gba times... it even gave me a bridge into the ds scene once i got my ds and then a light... i got a pascard to play around the ds homebrew and roms and then moved on to m3 simply because i wanted a quality product. Since my clicker on that thing broke, lol so much for quality, i moved up to a m3 ds real where i am at right now along with the gba expansion pack. yep, with sakura on it, it rocks!!!! DS homebrew and roms are soooo alive! and as for gba temp, i have been lurking since i got my first gba supercard sd, i just did not join right away.

I saw my friend playing DS, and I was like sort of OMG when I found he got a lot of games. At first, I thought he bought it, but after I found the microSD card in his R4, he then told me he download it, and I thought that is a great idea to test games before buying - save $$, so I starting out with R4, and now, ended up with Cyclo

it was actually really odd way. during the gba days, i was unscrewing a GBA cart to see the innards because I got very curious, then when I opened it up and took out the circuit board, for some reason I screwed the cartridge back up without thinking and I stared at it for a second and though, "hmmm, an "empty" cart?? is there such a thing? a cartridge that doesn't have a game in it that's "empty" and you can put stuff you want like music in it?". Pirating real games was the last thing I thought about, I just was wondering if my little idea existed or not. So I went on an adventure to find something and quickly stumbled upon Jandaman.com's flash cart site and I knew I was on to something. That's how it all started, from their, I went to a bunch of different sites like the good ole' lik-sang.com and their forums and much much much later ended up here at GBAtemp. What a journey!

I first found out about flash carts long before gbatemp or even gameboy emulation for that matter. I found ads for the pro fighter with GB attachment on a BBS called Spatula City which had a file section for SNES. Later on I found out that I could build my own GB copier called the CCC Carbon Copy Card by Jeff Frohwein, which he apparantly only intended for homebrew development and not game piracy. So I built that and got it working on the original GB and then the GBC came out and it worked on that as well. Then Bung came out with the MGD3 so I got that because it had more features and was a lot neater package and had more flashram than the cards I built. Gbatemp.net came way later than all of this. We used to use www.subport.org for numbering and finding out about the latest releases for gameboy color. Gameboy Advance came out and soon after there was a copier for it, but I got into that late. Then Gbatemp came about and I didn't register for a long time because I didn't feel like I needed to be on a web site. But eventually I found this site to be very useful for information on hardware and how to get gba games to work. And this site still does help out quite a bit. I just got a game to work on wii that I was having trouble with and it saved me a lot of time and possibly some dvd-r discs.

When I was 10: Looked up a way to watch videos on my Gameboy Advance SP, found the GBA movie player but kinda ignored it.

When I was 14: Became obsessed with DS and finally thought of buying some sort of accessory to play music and movies on it.... ended up with a Max Media Dock from Wal-Mart.....sigh

When I was 15: Got so dissapointed about my MMD's mediocre backup compatability that I researched, almost bought an R4, worked a hard summer job, and ended up with my CycloDS Evolution and an EZFlash V 3-in-1....

YAY ME!

Well I never about the website when I tried to figure out how to get my G6 Flash to work properly. This website was mostly chatting about the R4DS at that time so I had to figure everything out on my own. Once the G6 Flash died on me; I didn't know how to replace the battery. So I got bored and next best thing R4DS; the only difference is I bought it before the Nintendo sued them and all the clones started invading the market.
