How can I play Half Life with a controller?

I want to play the game with a controller but when i plug it in and open the game it isnt detected.

You can bind the keyboard keys/mouse to your controller and play like that.
Depending on the controller you are using, I recommend x360ce, ds4windows or joy2key.

the free moddb version doesn't include the xen levels, that's steam exclusive, since the game was actually finished
