Hot sauce

I saw this come up in another blog, but rather derail it with discussion of hot sauce, I thought I'd create a post dedicated to it. Hot sauce is awesome. It can make anything delicious, as the Franks Grannie says, I put that **** on everything! Well, almost. Here's what I use hot sauce on, what about you? Maybe we'll give each other new ideas!

Pizza
cold sandwiches
hot sandwiches
red sauce pasta
steak
burgers
hot dogs

What I will not put hot sauce on:
anything sweet
lasagna
chicken Alfredo


I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting for both lists, but oh well, its a start. As for the brands of hot sauce, I think Tabasco is the hottest (but not really that hot) you can get in most stores around here, but Franks RH has some different varieties that have more flavor. Right now I'm about half through a bottle of some store brand, it's so weak I could barely taste it over the pastrami on my sandwich I had for lunch. My wife can't stand the stuff, and always gets miffed when I add it to stuff she makes. Complains "you hate my cooking, you have to disguise the taste of it" and I'm just like "nooooo it's delicious, but everything tastes better with hot sauce!"

Hot sauce IS awesome. You should try some of the ultra hot/extract sauces, like Blairs Death Sauces - http://www.extremefood.com/ - they run the gamut from mildly hot to ridiculously painfully hot...the hottest I've had is Jersey Death and one drop of that stuff can hurt like hell...in a good way. I love the stuff. Although actually my favourite brand right now is probably these ones http://www.wildpepper.com/ - while I actually don't mind the taste of even the hottest Blairs sauces, I do prefer the taste of the wild pepper sauces, and the high-end ones are almost as hot. The heat in these ones tends to come on a bit faster and not linger as long as with Blairs, which sometimes can linger uncomfortably long hah

as for Tabasco, I tried out their new(ish) Habanero version the other day and that stuff is awesome (though not remotely as hot as the hotter of the blairs sauces)

And yep I put it on just about everything. Lately I add a few drops of the Jersey Death to tinned spaghetti and it makes it taste AWESOME as opposed to average-terrible hah. I actually quite like chilli chocolate too so unlike you I have considered trying some of the death sauce on some sweet things...I did make a lamington cake ones where I stirred some death sauce into the jam that went in the middle and that turned out freaking awesome hah

I love Frank's Red Hot! I put it on a lot of things, like chicken fingers, chicken wings, hamburgers...I even mix a bit of it in those Pasta Roni Parmesan and Angel Hair pasta dishes. It adds a bit of flavor to a dish that can be pretty bland. My family thinks I'm a bit weird. I did it randomly one day because the noodles tasted really bland for some odd reason and I haven't stopped since. Although I have to be careful, I'm kinda lactose intolerant so milk products upset my stomach. I used to use some random hot sauce until my dad bought it and now he buys it all the time and I'm pretty much the only one who uses it.


Then again, my family also thinks I'm weird for putting peanut butter and cinnamon sugar on my toast...dunno why, it's great!

I would die without my hot sauce, cause I wouldn't eat anything except for the three things I eat without it.

Hot sauce is pretty awesome. I always have a bottle of franks red hot in the fridge, but lately i've been enjoying the chipotle tabasco sauce. It's got heat with the nice smokey flavor of chipotle. It's pretty bangin, especially on pizza. Everyone should go get a bottle.
