You are correct. You need to change the theme to what you want and then install menuhax and change the type to autoboot unless a button is held (you currently have type 1, boot when a button is pressed). Unlinking your bands will solve those issues.

follow this guide, it will help you set up all your needs (I did it, works fantastic):
https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutoria...luding-emunand-coldboot-cia-installer.405589/

about themes: I used homebrew CHMM, but it installed into sysnand, and my menuhax got broken, so I searched for themes, and made my own cia using this tool:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/release...kages-with-custom-and-official-themes.401081/
You need to choose your own region, up to max. 100 themes. Then simply install it on emunand with FBI. Your theme management will recognize the themes, and you can choose 10 themes to randomize.

But still it's one of those things that's like all you really need is 3 USB ports

@wolffangalchemist, nothing small time about those Lenovo tiny PCs though, those things are stupid powerful for how little power they consume. I'm running pretty much my entire homelab stack on one m920q right now, it's sipping like 50w at load and replaced a box that was idling at >200w
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I had/have two custom built rackmount servers that I was using for my proxmox cluster but they just take up so much space and power. The only downside to these tiny PCs is RAM constraints, so I've offloaded some services to docker containers on my NASes instead since those aren't doing too much to begin with.
  • realtimesave @ realtimesave:
I had some really old AMD server dual CPU with enormous heat sinks but it didn't have modern features such as virtualization support so I scrapped the entire thing

I also had one of those WD MyCloud things or whatever my version was called. I had root access on that too, whatever stripped down ARM based debian build it was. Was cool but I couldn't really rely on it for server-ish stuff
  • wolffangalchemist @ wolffangalchemist:
    @Sicklyboy facts, i have a se
cond one set up to stream to our bedroom, we have a not smart tv in there but even if it was a smart tv i would still do it that way.

@wolffangalchemist, real, smart TVs are so ass :( I have a smart tv in my living room and still have one of the Android TV chromecast dongles plugged into it
  • wolffangalchemist @ wolffangalchemist:
@Sicklyboy, yeah the my cloud was neat but really left me wanting more useful features. like the ability to add more than 2
    drives later.
  • wolffangalchemist @ wolffangalchemist:
    and boy was it slow

  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
Oh my mycloud thing was just a single self contained unit like the WD mybook/elements external disks. Same shape but it had an ethernet port XD
  • wolffangalchemist @ wolffangalchemist:
yeah mine has a single usb 3,0 and the network port.
  • wolffangalchemist @ wolffangalchemist:
and if i didnt plug in the external drive a few soconds after booting it just didnt show up at all so it was pretty temperment if you have a power outage.
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
    oof that's inconvenient
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
I could probably makeshift a decent usb nas from my old hp laptop if I wasn't so lazy
  • wolffangalchemist @ wolffangalchemist:
i got two more M720q units that my job tossed, eventually gonna
do something with those maybe a firewall or something like that.

I'm running TrueNAS Scale on both my NAS boxes right now. One with 12x 8TB disks and one with 14x 14TB disks :tpi: I've spent way too much fucking money on this hobby
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
@Sicklyboy, do you have a tally how much you sunk in
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@wolffangalchemist, OPNsense! Or, go a step further, and virtualize it :D
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@K3Nv3, no and it's better for my mental health if I don't
  • wolffangalchemist @ wolffangalchemist:
@K3Nv3, pretty much anything with Gigabit lan and a healthy amount of usb 3 ports will make a really good nas.
