Hardware Highest reccommended controller?

I've been looking to upgrade my xbox 360 controller and I was wondering what works best for you.

I've already tried the following controllers.

Xbox 360 (as mentioned) : I really like it, but the dpad is pretty inaccurate
PS3 : It feels a bit tiny for me.

I'm happy to hear any recommendations.

for retrogaming you can't beat a bluetooth 8bitdo controller with an emulator.
for other, more recent games i prefer the ps3 controller but that's only because I haven't tried ps4 or xbox one controllers.
MSFT did just release a way to connect XBONE controllers to PC. there were some good reviews of it online as well
