Hiding titles from the menu

I was thinking about a way to bypass the 300 icon limit by having titles not show up on the home menu, and launching them from System Config Tool or Launchiine. Does anyone have an idea of how to do this? I have tried changing the first part of the title ID to 00050010 and changing invisible_flag in meta.xml to 16, but neither of those have worked. I haven't tried anything in app.xml or cos.xml in the code folder yet, but I think they might have some possibilities.

Changing app_type in app.xml makes the title disappear from the menu, but it doesn't show up in the system config tool or seem to start correctly. A plugin might be needed for this to work correctly.
