Hacking hiccup with "Section VI - finalizing setup" of pialect's guide

Got to the step where I rebooted my o3ds w/o the sd card but once the homescreen loads up there is nothing that pops up whereby I can configure the ctrnand based luma installation. i.e. can't perform step 21)
Use the (A) button and the D-Pad to turn on the following:

• “Show NAND or user string in System Setting"

I redid this section multiple times but I always end up with the same problem.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Check in fbi that you copied luma to your ctrnand correctly.

Yea so I've repeated the steps multiple times, making sure I didn't make a mistake/missed a step, to no avail. I still keep getting the same result when I reboot to the homescreen. Any other advice or is there a step I can backtrack too and redo a larger portion of the installation?

Make sure that you're doing it in sysnand and not emunand.

I can confirm with certainty that i selected the sysnand backup/restore option and not emunand

I'm asking if you were in emunand when you copied the arm9loaderhax.bin to the ctrnand. If it's in you emuctrnand it won't do you any good. Boot sysnand and use fbi to make sure that it's in your sysctrnand.

Are you holding select when turning the 3DS on?
You don't change these settings from the home menu, you hold select on boot and go directly to the Luma Config screen.
