Hacking Help with cheats for ez flash 5

Please help,

I am new to the EZ cards have used the following never had any issues
R4
m3real
Cyclo
TT
So I treated myslef to the EZ5i and the 3 in 1 , have NDS games working fine , GBA games working fine , Internet fine. the only problem is the cheats cannot get these working .
I have system v 1.9 on SD card but when I go to turn on the cheats in the system settings the choice is not there.

I have spent about 5 hours looking for help on this while this site was down , I know someone on this site will have the answer
