I bought this switch on the cheap hoping i could bring it back to life. From what i've read a corrupt nand could be the cause as well as major hardware problems with the cpu/gpu. Hoping for the former i got a guide to downgrade the firmware in order to get it working again. I setup my sd card with the relevant files and launched hekate payload with tegra rcm on pc. The screen was black even though it said it was successful. After trying to send the payload a bunch more times without success i removed the sd card and sent the payload again. This time it got to the hekate menu. unfortunately when i insert the sd card it gave an error saying that the sd card could not be mounted. Since it could only send a payload with no sd card inserted i decided to open it up to see what the problem was. To my surprise this switch was never opened before. there was no visible damage inside or signs of water damage. i then proceed to re seated the sd card reader but still it doesn't work. I tried the sd card reader in my working switch and it works so the reader is not the problem. Also i don't see any damage on the pins on the board where the sd reader connects. as i have stated previously i'm the first to open it. Does anyone have idea as to why payloads only work without the sd card inserted and what could be causing the sd card not to be detected. willing try any suggestions before i give up. thanks.

hello
the hekate payload send by your PC need only the internal memorie of the SOC tegra

switch start using lpddr4 when loading the hetake part located on SD card

your problem is not SD card and the NAND maybe not corrupt

lpddr4 problem, or soldering problem SOC or lpddr4 or both

the lpddr4 is just in the middle of the switch

an the switch fold (just in the middle)

@disco2001, thanks for the sugestion but it seems the issue in my case was the brand micro sd i was using. Hekate seems to be picky with the card it will detect. I use the micro sd i had in my other switch and it booted into hekate. I then chose launch sysnand and it booted normally. It seemed to be working but blue screened agained when sleep mode activated. I sent the payload again and when it booted into horizon i did a factory reset and it seems ok so far. Hoping that is the end of it.

So after getting hekate to boot i launched sysnand and it boot normally to the home menu. The problem is anytime i do a full shutdown it boots right back to a blue screen.only way around it is to launch sysnand through hekate. Any ideas what to do? The current firmware its on is 9.0.

Its getting harder to boot to hekate each time as it goes to a blackscren more times than not. What hardware components could i check to find out why its not booting hekate consistently.

i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol

They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol

@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
you've seen how much intel is struggling getting into the gpu market
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and nvidia is already doing ARM
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think they want to take more focus away from their gpus
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah I think Nvidia s future lays in AI GPU acceleration stuff if they can get that going it's going to be super interesting in the long term

AI assisted game creation might become a thing

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Psionic Roshambo AI assisted game creation is kinda already here, there was recently that AI that can turn any 2D image into a fully modeled 3D object, it's not perfect, but it's a starting point, beats starting from zero
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
before that there was one to generate a fully modeled scene from a 2D image
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but most recently, there was one that actually generates a working unity scene with terrain and textures already set up that you can import right into unity, that's a huge time saver right there
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and using LLMs to generate NPC dialogue and even dynamically generated quests is something i'm sure is already happening

will just take some time for games made using those things to be completed and released
