Hacking Help Identifying Flash Cart?

A friend was moving and passed me a Gameboy Micro with a strange cart on it. It's a see through purple color and labelled as "Super Writer". Below that, it also says "Wise Card II" and at the bottom it says "128 M". I'll provide pictures when I get hold of my camera.

Just curious if there's any information on this cart as a quick Google search returned nothing.

Until today I had never heard of the Wise Card series before.

My Google-Fu has revealed some confusing results; I cannot find anything specific about the Wise Card II. What I can find is that there was a Wise Card I (which may have come in 64Mbit/8MB, 128Mbit/16MB, and 256Mbit/32MB sizes) that used something called a Wise Box to reprogram it, and that there was a Wise Card III that seems to have had a linker that looks similar to the XG Flash's.

I can't tell if the Wise Card II and III are the 128Mbit/16MB, and 256Mbit/32MB models from the initial release or if they were later releases. The fact that the Wise Card III seems to have a different linker might suggest that that's not the case though...

Either way it seems that the Wise Card series relied on a USB programmer of some kind instead of later flash carts that used the GBA itself as the linker.

Hopefully someone else can help you out a bit more, but you're going to be hard pressed to find what you need to reprogram the cart.

That's very interesting information. Thanks for helping me out. I guess it's an outdated model and not worth toying around with. Seeing the Micro gave me a rush of nostalgia so I think I might just pick up an EZ Flash IV instead.

wisebox huh, not heard of those in a while.

The original wisebox was a mid-low range NOR era flash cart, I am not sure if the II was a R4 type arrangement (same name, different company) and outside of a few Chinese threads I can not find much until you get to III (which did work along the same lines as XG stuff, it might even be supported in littlewriter); such a thing is usually a strong indicator of the clone/cart with another name thing.

By and large though if you can get it working then it should run just about anything that fits on the cart. Obviously it will not fit much, or possibly even have multirom, but "pick a game, any game" is not such a bad way to live.
