Hi all,

I'm really out of my depth here but before I ask the question, this is my actual end goal:

1. Compile DRXUtil
2. Maybe play around with this some more and have a look at creating my own app or utility.

I wanted to compile DRXUtil as I would like to change the language (or region) of my Japanese Wii U controller as it still in 2024 actually makes a decent Smart TV remote... but I can' tread Japanese :) and I also understand for legal reasons this can't be provided already built.

I'm using a Ubuntu 22.04 VM for now but I really don't care too much on the OS, but *NIX is proffered.

1. I've installed devkitPro
2. I've compiled libmocha
3. Next I wanted to build wiiu-sdl2 / wiiu-sdl2_ttf. However this is where I am getting stuck.

I've got wiiu-sdl2 from here however you must export $WUT_ROOT and specifically what it is looking for is wut/share/wut.mk however this is now a deprecated build environment according to the WUT change log.

Clearly I am not a developer, but the question is, does anybody have any more up-to-date instructions on how I can install wiiu-sdl2 without using wut.mk?

Through DevkitPro. So something along the lines of pacman -Syu wiiu-sdl2

See https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Pacman for more informations on how to use pacman (search packages and stuff).

//EDIT: And in case you really want to compile for yourself have a look at this:

Absolute legend :) Thanks for this information it’s very much appreciated. Feel slightly embarrassed knowing you can just use the package manager… but you live and learn, so thank you.

Please keep up all that you do in the Wii U community!!
